It's week 3 already ?
Welcome to week 3 lecture.
Good day everyone. It’s 22nd of October 2020, our 3rd week of lecture just ended. So before getting into today’s content, I wanted share something. From 2nd week, we were asked to use a new application for our online class. I had a problem with that and after 1 week+ of figuring out the problem, finally today I consulted my lecturer regarding my problem and after few guidance from my lecturer, still I couldn’t see the presentation slide. I were given choice to use my handphone yet it is not convenient for me so I figure out by myself how to sort out this problem & finally, the moment of relieve, I found out the solution and now I can see the presentation slide. How hard it has been past 1 week with blank screen. Thanks to my lecturer for taking her time and helping me out to find solution for my technical issue.

Okay, let’s talk about today’s lecture. It went very well as my biggest problem got sort out and today we learned about media again as well. But one thing I would share from today’s lecture will be the Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 which is the approaches in online collaboration.
-
Web 2.0 is the name used to the describe the second generation of the world wide web, and refers to websites that emphasize user-generated content, ease of use, participatory culture and interoperability for end users. Web 2.0 is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online via social media, blogging and Web-based communities.
Take a look at the images I attached below for a clear vision.

Web 1.0 refers to the first stage of the World Wide Web evolution. Earlier, there were only few content creators in Web 1.0 with the huge majority of users who are consumers of content. Web 1.0 lacks a alot from Web 2.0. The cons are stated below :
-
Sites are static
-
Sites aren’t interactive
-
Applications are proprietary
-
Limited interaction between sites and web users.
-
A closed website and not very interactive to everyone - users receive information but not given choice to give feedback, posts and reviews.
Web 2.0 contains a number of online tools and platforms where people share their perspectives, opinions, thoughts and experiences. Web 2.0 applications tend to interact much more with the end user. The users can participant and use these tools below:
-
Podcasting
-
Blogging
-
Tagging
-
Curating with RSS
-
Social bookmarking
-
Social networking
-
