Exercise 1
NAT GEO documentary 2015 - Farnsworth vs Sarnoff

Farnsworth was a young boy who loves electronic and was a dreamer. While radio invention surges up, Farnsworth was thinking about television invention. He dreamed about having a moving image in radio, by capturing a picture electronically. Between school works and farm works, he refines his idea due to the obsession of inventing a television.
Television is like an art that shines like torchers of hope during war. The television is the most revolutionary invention back then. The television was a pretty big deal because it made it easier to get out news and information to the public. It was also a device for entertainment. Families would come together and watch television for hours on end with their children. Not only the television, but the radio was a big deal as well.
Sarnoff got to know about the invention of television and were aware about the decline of radio because the people might choose television over a radio. Sarnoff wanted to fight with Farnsworth and design his own television. So he planned to hire someone more intelligent than Farnsworth and invent a television to compete him. He worked with a Russian and he worked 4 times higher the budget to bring television into life. He wanted television to be invented in RCA, and take credits at any cost.

In late 1920’s, a court case were pulled and Farnsworth had to pay a lot for the hearing. Farnsworth became an alcoholic. With no prove that Farnsworth invented television first, the case turns to support Sarnoff. Lastly, the last hope was a science teacher of Farnsworth whom he showed his television invention sketch to his teacher. The testimony proves that Farnsworth is the inventor of television first. July 22nd 1935, Farnsworth was given the priority of television inventor by court and may pursue his dreams to create more televisions. But his victory short left because Sarnoff with his power planned to make Farnsworth from manufacturing. He surpassed all the business advantage that Farnsworth might have and cut off all his flow of money. Meanwhile Sarnoff worked hard to produce the first television and be the first inventor to sale television. With the power and money Sarnoff has, he because the first inventor in peoples eye. This is how they gain the tittle of inventor. Although Sarnoff invented a mass production of television, Farnsworth were the one who came up with the idea, sketches and encourage a challenge in invention in Sarnoff.

My view on media is, based on the video, I can say that Sarnoff were well known meanwhile Farnsworth was young boy growing up. So his talent on inventing a television was asked to sell but Farnsworth wanted the name of television inventor and led the television production. Also the point was who creating the television quick not profit in this video. Generally, Media effects on individual or an audience's thoughts, attitudes, and behaviour.
