Collaboration Tool Review

Another challenging assignment. We were asked to give a review on collaboration tool. So first of all, what is collaboration tool ? A collaboration tool helps people to collaborate. The purpose of a collaboration tool is to support a group of two or more individuals to accomplish a common goal or objective. We can use the collaboration tool to discuss, transfer and share documents and organise our workflow using the features provided by the app.

There are few collaboration tool that is used and popular among us especially during this pandemic.

Some of the examples are :

  • Cisco Webex Meetings

  • Cisco Webex Teams

  • Microsoft Teams

  • Google Hangout

  • Skype

  • Slack

  • Time Doctor

  • Monday.com

  • Ryver

  • Trello

  • Flock

Besides Whatsapp, Telegram and other mostly used application, these collaboration tools are more effective because they are capable to accommodate up to 50 people in one meeting. They also provide some extra features which helps the meeting to run smooth and flawlessly. These collaboration tools are design to support more than one means of communication such as chat, instant messaging, screen sharing, audio/video conferencing, and file sharing.

So, we were asked to choose a collaboration tool and do a review. We, a group 6 together chose Cisco Webex Teams as our collaboration tool and started to survey and do discussion. I will update one by one as we explore the application.

All of us signed up to Cisco Webex Teams to explore the application. All of us individually explored the app, to know the features and experience the features to give a review.

On 29th of October 2020, we did our first meeting through Cisco Webex Teams. The video call went smoothly with no any video or audio problem. We had a discussion for our group task and took this chance to explore the application.

We can share files such as images, documents, videos, music – Maximum 2G. 

Cisco Webex Teams fits up to 100 people for instant chat and video call also allows screen sharing. Chat extra's are emoji, GIF, mention, individual chat room, group chat room, personal meeting room, format text. We can also share images, documents, videos, music – Maximum 2GB. Supported platforms are Android, iOS, web, desktop app and Webex Teams has paid option for landline and mobile calls. As for payments :

  • Free         : $0

  • Starter     : $13.50

  • Plus          : $17.95

  • Business  : $26.95

 

Free option is suitable for students since it has many features that is needed.
